Down Syndrome Awareness Month

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! Some things to be aware of:
1. People with Down Syndrome have potential!
2. They love ❤  like no other group of people!
3. They should not be discounted or overlooked.
4. They are people too.
We received the news that my son, Jarrell, had Down Syndrome on February 14, 1990. It happened to be on Valentine’s Day, which was so appropriate, because that is when I fell totally in love with Jarrell!! Through the years of his younger life, we heard a lot of he won’t, he can’t, but we Serve and Love a Savior that turned all of the won’ts and can’ts into he can, he will, and he did!!!
Oftentimes, people are afraid of what they deem different. During this month of Awareness, open your minds, hearts, and arms. Hug someone that’s “different”! Don’t let this prejudice make you miss out on knowing a wonderful person!
Harold and Tyler Bravery gives a glimpse of how it is more than a notion to make friends when you are “different”. Harold made a decision to be Brave!
Special Needs individuals have to navigate this world, just like we do! Love them through… Be Kind and Accept.

Love,

Janet Walton Dukes
